Boobs < Laser Boobs – Bempology 2010 Party. Hood Internet and The White Panda tend to dominate this playlist as they did the music blog scene for 2010, taking the best of major label Top 40 and esoteric indie and creating a fantastic little gay marriage of the two. ”Trey-Dio Departmentz” sees a pairing of Trey-Lo and The Radio Dept. creating a combination so perfect that any stranger in the room won’t realize these are two separate songs and will want to know the name either way. Lil Wayne raps over The Office theme, which in 10 years will probably make me cringe but for now still carries a good beat (the show needs to be taken behind a shed and put to sleep, but this song can live). Matt & Kim should be commissioned to be featured with Wale or rappers of similar style annually on a traack, as their beats provide the perfect type of backdrop for hip-hop adoption. Two white boys close out the party, with Hoodie Allen borrowing from Marina & the Diamonds hit “You Are Not a Robot” with an excellent piece of college-blog-indie-hype-machine-rap (that is the genre) and Russ Chimes uses just the right amount of synth hook to teeter on the edge of techno without ever leaving the indie-electro neighborhood. Hopefully it’s Friday.
