Bempology 2010 – Part 9

If you haven’t been to a rockclub-hosted Saved By The Bell theme party, you should probably just end it – Bempology 2010 Part 9.  This mix takes a decidedly slower tone with not one electronic remix, honest.  Favorites of mine here are Delta Spirit “Bushwick Blues” (there’s a Springsteen swagger here, ‘I met a young girl / Well I couldn’t manage her / Because I think of you / In every girl I meet / It’s no relief / That sounds to me just as sweet), Minus the Bear contribute with “My Time” (with just an absolutely absurd build-up to that key line), and Good Old War with “My Own Sinking Ship” (if these guys don’t get a film / ad / TV placement something’s wrong, some terrible CBS drama needs to ruin this band). Also check out Family of the Year “Summer Girl”, a group with excellent folk-pop instrumentation that doesn’t even need to flex it on this track.  Things end well for this mix, as Yeasayer “ONE” gets your tribal-psychedelic-pastoral-pop dance party going and Wild Nothing “Golden Haze” co-opts the best guitar lines from The Cure and The Smiths in a shimmering 3 minutes of dream-pop.
