Bempology 2009 – Part 1

Annnnnnd we’re back.  This is the first installment of the 2009 Bempology Mixes with 900% more individual cover art.  Generally I build the mixes sequentially, so the first pieces generally receive a lot of my favorite tracks of the year and this opener is no exception.  Standouts here include Theophilus London’s “Hum Drum” using a great Futurecop! sample, Ellie Goulding and Starsmith doing a take on Passion Pit’s ubiquitous “Sleepyhead”, and a great chill-ified remix of Yeah Yeah Yeahs “Soft Shock” (the original version also drops in later on Bempology 2009, but this remix was so solid it had to appear early on).   Picture this opening salvo as some of the valedictorians from the Hype Machine class.
