Bempology 2008 – Part 9

In future years I promise to use less ‘abusive personification of animal photography’ for year end mixes, but in the meantime grab Bempology 2008 – Part 9 here.  Battling with Part 7, Part 9 is another one of my favorites from the year.  Starting off with a downright perfect CSS remix of Keane’s ‘The Lovers Are Losing’, Part 9 emanates a pretty carefree vibe throughout.  Other top picks here come in the form of Jukebox the Ghost ‘Good Day’ remix (Andrew Maury of RAC takes up an upbeat track and raises it to another level), Walter Meego ‘Keyhole’ (an electronic guitar solo that rivals Daft Punk’s famous ‘Aerodynamic’ take, paired with a fantastic warbling falsetto that should get this song put on any Halloween playlist), Kyte’s remix of Joy Formidable ‘Cradle’ (an awesome electronic artist taking on one of the best new bands in indie music today = win win), and Mumford and Sons epic folk-romp ‘Roll Away Your Stone’ (a perfect blueprint for making folk music to dance to, even at this time you could tell these guys were bound to blow up).  Things slow down at the end, with some of the best slow tracks in the year from Lewis & Clarke with ‘Before it Breaks You’ (9 minutes of chilled out bliss) and Loney, Dear ‘Ignorant Boy, Beautiful Girl’ (unreal vocal instrumentation carries through the whole song, so happy that college acapella groups never found this gem).
