Bempology 2006 – Part 6, making me realize I listen to too much electronic garbage nowadays. Stars does their usual thing on this mix, which is making haunting emotional events, death, and breakups into blissful and irresistible indie pop, e.g. ‘One More Night’. Bloc Party pop up twice here, with ‘Blue Light’ and ‘So Here We Are’, both showcasing the band’s ability to absolutely nail up-tempo dance floor indie and yet turn around to pen mellow ballads the next and still hit them out of the park. Also be sure to check out Jem, a group I always thought would have gone bigger than it did. ‘They’ is the type of track used during fashion week, oozing hipster cool in the most ephemeral of ways.
