Bempology 2004 – Part 2, or, when I had restraint. Rounding out the second half of 2004, Belle & Sebastian deviate from their slower ballads with ‘Your Cover’s Blown’, a swirling funk-driven 6 minute jam that covers more genre than you’ll generally see from such a great band. Plenty more Garden State / freshman dorm room indie on this one (in my defense I was a freshman and was into Garden State) with Death Cab for Cutie, Mirah, Doves, Arcade Fire, and others. Be sure to check out The Good Life ‘Album of the Year’, an imploding relationship via catchy pop is a pretty successful formula and always will be.
